Apple M5 Ultra
Dual-die Apple Silicon flagship with up to 512GB unified memory
Apple introduced the M5 Ultra on August 25, 2026, in the new Mac Studio, built the same way as its predecessors: two M5 Max dies fused together over UltraFusion, now running at more than 4.4TB/s of inter-die bandwidth. The 80-core GPU keeps the same core count as the M3 Ultra but adds a Neural Accelerator inside every core, and Apple configures it with 96GB, 256GB, or 512GB of unified memory at up to 1.2TB/s of bandwidth, alongside a 36-core CPU and 32-core Neural Engine.
That top-end 512GB configuration is what makes it interesting outside the usual video-editing and 3D crowd: it’s enough unified memory to load large open-weight models locally without the multi-GPU setup a comparable amount of VRAM would otherwise require.
