Adobe's commercially-safe text-to-video model built for Premiere Pro workflows
Firefly Video is Adobe’s text-to-video and image-to-video model, announced at Adobe MAX in October 2024 and opened to public beta through the standalone Firefly web app in February 2025. Adobe positions it as the first widely available video model built to be commercially safe, trained on licensed and public domain sources so businesses can use its output without copyright exposure. Inside Premiere Pro, it powers Generative Extend, a feature editors use to stretch a clip to cover a gap in footage, smooth a jump cut, or hold a shot longer without reshooting. Through 2025, Adobe added camera motion controls, start-frame image uploads, and prompt-based editing of existing footage, moving the tool from pure generation toward directed video editing. It remains in beta as of mid-2026, with Adobe rolling out updates alongside its other Firefly models rather than shipping a single finished version.
