GLM-4-Plus
Zhipu's proprietary flagship tier alongside the open-weight GLM line
GLM-4-Plus is Zhipu AI’s proprietary flagship model, announced at the KDD 2024 conference and made available at the end of August 2024. It sits alongside the open-weight GLM-4 release as the closed, higher-capability tier, aimed at complex reasoning, long-text handling, and instruction following in both Chinese and English. It supports a 128,000-token context window and is accessed only through Zhipu’s own API platform, with no downloadable weights.
At launch, Zhipu positioned it as comparable to GPT-4 on a range of Chinese and English benchmarks, and it was among the first models from the company to add consumer-facing video call features. Because parameter counts for the model were never disclosed, it’s best understood as Zhipu’s answer to OpenAI’s and Anthropic’s paid flagship tiers rather than as a research artifact, sold on capability and price rather than openness.
