It kept the 400,000 token context window and 128,000 token output limit from the GPT-5.1 generation, and OpenAI priced the standard model at $1.75 per million input tokens and $14 per million output tokens, with a five-level reasoning effort setting from minimal to extra high. By mid-2026 OpenAI was steering users toward the newer GPT-5.6 line, but GPT-5.2 remains available in the API and ChatGPT’s legacy model picker.
