GPT-5.4
The first OpenAI model to ship with native computer use built in
GPT-5.4, released March 5, 2026, was the first general-purpose OpenAI model to ship with native computer-use capability, reaching 75 percent on the OSWorld benchmark for controlling a desktop environment directly. It expanded the context window to roughly 1 million tokens (922,000 input plus 128,000 output), added a five-level reasoning effort control, and introduced a tool-search mechanism that OpenAI says cuts token costs by 47 percent in workflows that call a lot of external tools. Standard API pricing is $2.50 per million input tokens and $15 per million output tokens, with a GPT-5.4 Pro tier at $30/$180 for maximum accuracy. OpenAI followed up on March 17 with GPT-5.4 Mini, priced at $0.75/$4.50 and available to free ChatGPT users, plus a developer-only GPT-5.4 Nano tier.
