GPT-5 Pro

GPT-5 Pro is the highest-compute variant of GPT-5, released October 6, 2025 for tasks where accuracy matters more than speed or cost. It shares GPT-5’s 400,000 token context window with up to 272,000 tokens of output, and OpenAI prices it well above the standard model at $15 per million input tokens and $120 per million output tokens. It runs longer internal reasoning chains than default GPT-5, trading latency for higher accuracy on hard math, science, and coding problems, and it’s available through ChatGPT Pro and the API rather than the free or Plus tiers. OpenAI kept the same pattern with Pro variants of each GPT-5.x release that followed.
