Ideogram's second-generation model with improved photorealism and typography
Ideogram 2.0 is Ideogram’s second-generation text-to-image model, launched on August 21, 2024 and made free to all users on release day. It added five selectable style presets (regular, realistic, design, 3D, and anime), noticeably better rendering of hands, eyes, and skin in the realistic style, and color palette controls that let users lock a generation to specific brand or mood colors. The same launch introduced Ideogram Search, letting users browse over a billion public generations for inspiration, along with a new iOS app and a beta public API. Where Ideogram 1.0 was mainly known for solving legible in-image text, 2.0 broadened the pitch toward general image quality and stylistic control while keeping that typography advantage intact. It positioned Ideogram as a more complete competitor to Midjourney rather than a niche tool for text-heavy graphics alone.
