Kimi K2.5 is Moonshot AI’s native multimodal update to Kimi K2, released January 27, 2026 after continued pretraining over roughly 15 trillion mixed text and image tokens on top of the original K2 base. It’s built around what Moonshot calls Agent Swarm, letting the model coordinate up to 100 specialized sub-agents working on a task at once, and it pairs strong visual coding ability with the agentic tool-calling focus of earlier Kimi releases. The model carries a 262,144 token context window with up to 98,000 tokens of output, and Moonshot’s own API prices it around $0.44 per million input tokens and $2.00 per million output tokens, with third-party providers pricing it similarly. Like the rest of the Kimi K2 line, it ships with open weights under a modified MIT license, and it sat between the original K2 and the later K2.6 and K2.7 Code releases.
