DxO PhotoLab
RAW editor known for lens correction and DeepPRIME denoising
DxO PhotoLab builds on years of lab testing of cameras and lenses. When you open a RAW file, it automatically applies corrections specific to your camera and lens combination for distortion, vignetting, and sharpness, which gives a solid starting point. The editor then provides tools for exposure, color, tone, and detail, with local adjustments using masks and control points inherited from the Nik Collection, which DxO owns.
Its noise reduction is its best-known feature. DeepPRIME XD uses AI to remove noise and recover detail from high-ISO images, and many photographers rate it among the best available, especially for low-light work. Other tools include ClearView for contrast, color rendering profiles, and lens sharpness adjustments. It works as a standalone editor and as a plugin with Lightroom or Photoshop, and DxO also sells PureRAW for batch processing.
DxO PhotoLab is sold as a perpetual license with paid upgrades, which appeals to those who prefer not to subscribe, and trials are available. Its cataloging features are less developed than Lightroom’s. Alternatives include Adobe Lightroom, Capture One, ON1 Photo RAW, and Topaz Photo AI. DxO PhotoLab suits photographers who care about image quality from optics and noise handling.
