Copilot Studio lets organizations create their own AI agents without heavy coding. In a visual editor, makers describe an agent’s purpose, connect knowledge sources such as SharePoint sites and websites, add topics and actions, and test it in a chat window. The finished agent can be published to Teams, Microsoft 365 Copilot, websites, and messaging channels, and can answer questions, complete tasks, or hand off to people.

Its strength is connection to business systems. Hundreds of connectors reach tools like Salesforce, ServiceNow, SAP, and Dynamics 365, and agents can use Power Automate flows to run processes. Autonomous agents can respond to triggers such as a new email or record, not only a chat message, and the platform supports the Model Context Protocol to reach more tools. Administrators manage governance, data loss prevention, and access through Microsoft’s admin centers.

Copilot Studio is paid, with pricing based on capacity or on the number of messages the agents handle, plus the underlying Microsoft 365 licenses. Costs depend on usage, so it is worth estimating volume before launching. It suits organizations already invested in Microsoft’s ecosystem. Alternatives include Salesforce Agentforce, ServiceNow’s AI agents, Google’s agent tools, and open-source builders such as Dify and n8n. Careful testing and guardrails are needed, because agents act on real data.
