OrcaSlicer prepares 3D models for printing. It loads a model, lets you orient it and add supports, then generates the toolpaths that tell the printer what to do. It grew out of Bambu Studio and Slic3r-family projects and has become popular because it offers many settings alongside sensible defaults.

Calibration is a standout feature. Built-in tests help tune flow rate, pressure advance, temperature, and retraction for each filament, which improves quality and consistency. It supports many printers through profiles, manages multiple materials and colors, and can send jobs to printers over a network.

OrcaSlicer is free and developed by a community. It has no meaningful AI features and, as with any slicer, results depend on the printer and filament. The wide range of options can overwhelm beginners. Alternatives include Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, UltiMaker Cura, SuperSlicer, and Simplify3D. OrcaSlicer suits hobbyists who want control and calibration tools.
