Webex
Cisco's meetings and calling platform with an AI Assistant
Webex is one of the older names in video conferencing, and Cisco has kept it competitive by adding hardware, calling, and collaboration tools. Companies use it for meetings, webinars, team messaging, a phone system, and conference room devices, with security and compliance controls that suit regulated industries and government.
The AI Assistant adds help across these pieces. It writes meeting summaries and action items, answers questions about what was discussed, catches up people who join late, and summarizes long message threads. Audio features remove background noise and can isolate a speaker’s voice in a loud room, and real-time translation and captions help international teams. Cisco also sells AI agents for contact centers.
Webex has a free plan with limits and paid plans per host, with enterprise bundles. Its strength is enterprise management and room hardware, though it has lost ground to Zoom and Microsoft Teams in many companies. Alternatives include Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Slack Huddles. Webex suits organizations already using Cisco networks or needing strong admin controls.
